This lightweight, sheer sunscreen is ideal for oily and/or combination skin, giving you the highest level of UVA protection available and UVB coverage in a formulation that won't clog pores.

  • Protects against damaging UVA and UVB rays
  • Will not clog pores

What is the difference between an all-physical sunscreen and a physical-chemical sunscreen?

An all-physical sunscreen utilizes sunscreen actives, such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, that work by sitting on top of the skin to deflect or block damaging UV rays away from the skin.

A physical-chemical sunscreen utilizes a combination of sunscreen actives that include physical blockers and chemical filters to achieve a more elegant and sheer formulation. Chemical filtering sunscreen actives work by absorbing UV rays and converting them into heat energy on top of the skin.

When should you use an all-physical sunscreen vs when should you use a physical-chemical sunscreen?

An all-physical sunscreen is usually recommended by professionals for sensitive skin or following a procedure. Physical sunscreens work better for people with heat-activated skin (ie, rosacea and redness) since they deflect the heat and energy from the sun.

I've been looking for a

I've been looking for a clean, non-toxic SPF/moisturizer and I think I've found the one! This is my second one so far and seems to work well with my oily/combination skin. It's a higher SPF than most, which my derm suggested, but doesn't seem to clog up my pores or make my skin white like other products.

I've tried a TON of

I've tried a TON of SPF products on my face. I would compare this to EltaMD's UV Clear, but I like this SkinMedica one better. It still controls oil thanks to the niacinamide, but it doesn't have lactic acid and so my sensitive skin can handle it better. I do have to apply a layer of SkinMedica HA5 underneath this as my skin has a love/hate relationship with niacinamide (loves the oil control and anti-pigmentation benefits, but can become irritated easily). Once I figured out how to use this without irritation, it turned into my HG SPF. Some other things to note about my skin: I strictly use fungal acne safe products (same goes for my hair products), I use adapalane (Differin gel) and azelaic acid (Finacea 15% gel).
